Yamba




Yamba is situated at the mouth of the Clarence River in Northern NSW, the biggest river on the east coast of Australia. Yamba has a relaxed lifestyle with access to all services and is within easy reach of Ballina, Lismore and Grafton and is only 3 hours from Brisbane, 2 hours from the Gold Coast and only a 2 hour flight from Sydney.



Yamba has been declared by CSIRO and Stanford University as having the best climate in the world(along with San Diego, California and Bunbury in WA)



Yamba is surrounded by Yuraygir National Park, the Clarence River, Pacific Ocean and rural land. The Yaegl people are traditional custodians of the coastal areas around Yamba, Iluka and Maclean.



In 2006 Yamba's population was 7000, growing at 5% pa. Maclean is 21 km to the west, Grafton 60 km to the SW and Ballina 100 km to the north. The climate is moderate. Peak tourist seasons are Dec/Jan, Easter, mid year and October.



Yamba has sporting and recreation groups, restaurants, eateries, cafes, primary schools, cinema, churches, swimming pools, golf course, bowling greens and a large deep-water marina. It has a post office, banks and internet facilities.



You can shop locally for just about anything. Yamba has an established small business and industry sector. The monthly open-air market is on the fourth Sunday at Ford Park. Yamba District Chamber of Commerce Inc meets on the first Monday of the month.


With beaches, fishing, bowls, golf, walking, horse riding, two new clubs, fine and casual dining and an ever increasing improvement in health, shopping, and other facilities, Yamba is not the place to sit around wondering how to fill in the days.
